The glitz and the glamour of extremely popular live TV broadcast of The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will take place in Vienna in Austria again, marking the city’s third time hosting the event after 1967 and 2015.
Austria’s public broadcaster ORF confirmed the news on Tuesday, announcing that the 70th edition of competition grand final will be held on 16 May 2026 at the Wiener Stadthalle, the country’s largest indoor arena.
The semi-finals are scheduled for 12 and 14 May.
ORF said Vienna’s selection followed an evaluation of infrastructure, logistics and economic considerations.
Vienna’s mayor, Michael Ludwig, welcomed the decision and said the city was ready to host the event and welcome visitors from across Europe.
The 2025 contest was held in Basel, Switzerland, and was watched by around 166 million live viewers, with Austrian singer JJ grabbing the gong with 'Wasted Love'.
Austria has previously won Eurovision twice, with Udo Jürgens in 1966 and Conchita Wurst in 2014.
The 2026 contest will bring together countries from across Europe and beyond, with millions of viewers expected to watch the live broadcast.
