Tom Cruise has officially entered the record books again—this time for a stunt involving a flaming parachute performed 16 times for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.
Known for defying danger on screen, Tom Cruise has earned a new Guinness World Record for the “most burning parachute jumps by an individual.” At age 62, Cruise jumped out of a helicopter 16 times with a fuel-soaked parachute that ignited mid-air during filming in Drakensberg, South Africa. Each fiery descent lasted about three seconds before he deployed a backup chute.
Cruise also retains another impressive record: the actor with the most consecutive $100 million-grossing films—11 hits since Jack Reacher (2012), including Top Gun: Maverick and multiple Mission: Impossible titles. According to Guinness World Records, Cruise’s success comes from his relentless pursuit of authenticity and action.
