French television channel Canal+ has confirmed that a fourth live-action Paddington film is in development, building on one of StudioCanal's most successful global franchises.
The Paddington films have been among StudioCanal's biggest commercial successes.
The original 2014 film grossed more than $326 million worldwide, including nearly $99 million in the UK. Paddington 2 earned around $290 million globally, with more than $110 million coming from the UK, making it the franchise's highest-grossing domestic release.
The most recent instalment, Paddington in Peru, released in 2024, grossed approximately $211 million worldwide, including $48 million in the UK, and recorded the franchise's biggest opening weekend in Britain.
Canal+ did not announce a release date for Paddington 4 or reveal details about its cast or production timetable.
Paddington Bear was created by British author Michael Bond and first appeared in the 1958 children's book A Bear Called Paddington.
The stories follow a polite Peruvian bear who travels to London, where he is adopted by the Brown family after being found at Paddington railway station with a note reading, "Please look after this bear. Thank you."
