Baku Climate Action Week (BCAW) 2026 has begun in Azerbaijan’s capital, bringing together government representatives, business leaders, investors, researchers and climate experts from across the world to advance practical solutions for tackling climate change.
Held from 7 to 11 September 2026 under the umbrella of the UNFCCC Regional Climate Week in Baku, the event builds on the success of BCAW 2024 and 2025, as well as the legacy of COP29, hosted by Azerbaijan in 2024.
The week serves as a platform for climate dialogue, partnerships and implementation, with discussions focused on transforming climate commitments into concrete action and supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement and national climate targets.
BCAW 2026 brings together a diverse group of participants, including policymakers, business leaders, financial institutions, green technology innovators, climate scientists, academics, civil society representatives, youth organisations, cities, indigenous and local communities, and international organisations.
The event aims to strengthen cooperation between Azerbaijan, the wider region and the international community by promoting knowledge exchange, investment mobilisation and innovative approaches to climate-resilient and low-carbon development.
Under the UNFCCC Regional Climate Week framework, the programme provides a space for governments and non-government stakeholders to discuss solutions, showcase new technologies and explore sustainable finance mechanisms to support climate action.
The programme includes high-level policy discussions on key areas such as energy transition, climate finance, adaptation, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and a just transition towards a low-carbon economy.
Sectoral roundtables will bring together industry representatives, innovation leaders and green entrepreneurs, while youth-led sessions will highlight the role of younger generations in shaping climate policies and solutions.
The event will also promote partnerships supporting global and regional climate commitments, including initiatives related to SMEs and sustainable fashion.
BCAW 2026 will also focus on expanding climate education, developing green skills and strengthening the role of communities, women, academia and civil society in climate action.
Participants will explore circular economy models and Zero Waste approaches as important elements of sustainable development and a fair transition to a greener economy.
Organisers say the event reflects Azerbaijan’s continued role as a platform for inclusive climate dialogue, bringing together governments, businesses, researchers and communities to accelerate cooperation and investment in climate solutions.
