China's centuries-old treasures have been pulled out of storage to be restored for display at Beijing's Forbidden City and Palace Museum. Meticulous repairs are needed ahead of the museum's 100th anniversary this year.
Thousands of artifacts from Chinese emperors are undergoing meticulous restoration to be shown in the Palace Museum in Beijing.
One of the items is a Qing dynasty lacquer panel, inlaid with jade and agate.
The reconditioning of these ancient items can take months or even years. However, President Xi Jinping is pushing to preserve cultural heritage and enhance China’s cultural influence.
The restoration and curation efforts come, as the Museum marks its 100th anniversary and prepares to open a new branch later this year.
Currently, only 10,000 of the nearly 2 million cultural relics are on display at the moment.
