Chinese AI startup DeepSeek announced on Wednesday a significant reduction in the cost of its API usage during off-peak hours. Between 1630 GMT and 0030 GMT, developers integrating DeepSeek’s AI models via its API can expect savings of up to 75%.
According to the company, usage costs for its popular R1 model will be reduced by 75% during the off-peak window, while the API for its V3 model will see a 50% discount. DeepSeek, based in Hangzhou, aims to attract more developers by making its advanced AI capabilities more cost-effective during these hours.
By offering substantial discounts during periods of lower demand, DeepSeek seeks to boost utilization of its AI models and encourage broader integration into various applications and web products. The move underscores a growing trend among AI service providers to optimize pricing based on demand, providing users with more flexible and affordable options to access cutting-edge technology.
