Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on July 1 to offer condolences, express gratitude for regional support, and reaffirm mutual commitment to sovereignty and bilateral cooperation.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on July 1, according to a statement from the press service of the Azerbaijani head of state.
During the call, Zelenskyy expressed condolences on behalf of the Ukrainian public over the killing of Azerbaijani nationals during the recent attacks in Yekaterinburg, Russia. President Aliyev thanked his Ukrainian counterpart for the gesture of solidarity.
Zelenskyy also conveyed his appreciation to Azerbaijan for assisting in the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens from Iran.
The two leaders discussed the future of bilateral relations and agreed to convene an intergovernmental commission meeting in Baku in the near future.
Both sides reiterated their mutual support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
In addition, President Zelenskyy thanked Azerbaijan for its continued humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
