UK hails Türkiye’s role in Ukraine and regional peace

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy praised Türkiye’s strategic role in regional peace and stability during his visit to Ankara, highlighting its efforts in addressing the Ukraine war, the Gaza crisis, and broader UK-Türkiye relations.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy commended Türkiye’s key contributions to regional stability following his meeting with Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara.

Lammy noted Türkiye’s involvement in addressing Russia’s actions in Ukraine and supporting efforts toward achieving a ceasefire. He highlighted the strength of UK-Türkiye ties, underpinned by cultural and economic connections, and discussed an upcoming Free Trade Agreement aiming to build on £28 billion ($38.4 billion) in trade.

Lammy also acknowledged joint efforts in alleviating the Gaza humanitarian crisis and discussed continued cooperation on Syria. He affirmed the strategic partnership between the two nations and called for deeper collaboration in facing global geopolitical challenges.
