Polish President Andrzej Duda made an unannounced visit to Kyiv on Saturday, where he was awarded Ukraine’s Order of Freedom for his support during the ongoing war with Russia.

Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived in Kyiv on Saturday morning for an unannounced visit, according to a statement from his office on social media.

During the visit, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded Duda the Order of Freedom, Ukraine’s highest honor for foreign nationals. The award recognizes Duda’s “outstanding personal merits in strengthening Ukrainian-Polish international cooperation” and his firm support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The visit coincided with Ukraine’s Constitution Day celebrations, where Duda participated as Guest of Honour.

Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha praised Duda as a “true friend of Ukraine,” highlighting Poland’s solidarity with Ukraine since the start of Ukraine - Russia war.

"We are grateful to him and all Poles for their support," Sybiha wrote on Platform X.

According to a decree from the Ukrainian presidency, Duda’s recognition reflects his consistent backing of Ukraine’s fight to defend its sovereignty.
