Iran’s state media has reported that the headquarters of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in Tehran was targeted in a military strike on Monday, while live programming was underway.
According to IRIB News Network, the incident briefly interrupted live broadcasts before operations resumed a few minutes later. Footage circulating online shows a news presenter continuing coverage during the incident, with reports suggesting the studio was affected at the time.
It is not yet clear whether there were any injuries or fatalities. Iranian authorities have not released official figures, and independent verification has not been possible.
The reported strike comes amid ongoing regional tensions and follows a series of escalatory developments between Iran and Israel. While Iranian media attributed the strike to Israel, confirmation came later from Israeli officials.
Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz confirmed that the Israeli military was behind the operation, stating that the strike on Iran’s broadcasting authority was part of a broader campaign against Iranian state structures.
“The Iranian regime’s propaganda and incitement broadcasting authority was struck by the IDF following a wide-scale evacuation of local residents,” Katz said in a statement.
“We will strike the Iranian dictator everywhere. The broadcasting centre is not just a media outlet — it is a key tool for incitement, coordination, and psychological warfare used by the regime against Israel and the free world.”
The IRIB headquarters, located in northern Tehran, houses key facilities used for national and international broadcasts.
