Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his cabinet won a confidence vote in parliament, securing 243 votes in favour and maintaining their positions. The vote aimed to reaffirm Tusk’s political stability following his party’s defeat in the June presidential election.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and his cabinet emerged victorious in a confidence vote held in parliament, with Tusk retaining his position.
Despite his party’s heavy defeat in the presidential elections, Tusk secured the parliament’s confidence on Wednesday by winning 243 votes in favor and 210 against.
In the elections, nationalist Karol Nawrocki defeated Tusk’s supported centrist candidate Rafal Trzaskowski. The confidence vote was held as part of Tusk’s effort to change the political narrative and inject new momentum into his cabinet.
Since the coalition led by Tusk holds a strong majority in parliament, the outcome of the vote was largely expected. With this result, the prime minister reaffirmed his mandate and strengthened his political stability.
