An overnight strike on an energy facility in Ukraine’s Rivne region has caused power outages in Ternopil, worsening concerns over the country’s vulnerable energy grid.
Ukraine has reported that a Russian attack overnight struck an energy infrastructure facility in the western Rivne region. The assault caused power outages in parts of Ternopil, adding to the ongoing threat to Ukraine’s energy grid, which has faced repeated attacks throughout the conflict.
This attack follows a series of major strikes inNovember that caused widespread power disruptions just ahead of winter. Ukraine's Air Force successfully shot down 22 of the 28 drones launched in the latest wave, though some drones did strike vital infrastructure. Several drones left Ukrainian airspace, while one was lost. Local authorities are advising residents to stock up on water and ensure their phones are charged as repairs to the damaged infrastructure continue.
Russian authorities have yet to comment on the claims.
