AI Film Festival puts cutting-edge tech in the spotlight

]The third annual AI Film Festival opened Thursday night in New York, offering a glimpse into what artificial intelligence can now do on the big screen.

Organized by Runway, a leader in AI video tools, the festival featured 10 short films created with generative AI technology. The entries, selected from over 6,000 submissions, show how fast AI video creation is evolving — both in visuals and storytelling.

The top prize went to “Total Pixel Space” by Jacob Alder — a visually stunning film that uses math and AI to explore the endless possibilities of digital imagery. Second place went to “Jailbird”, a story told from a chicken’s point of view inside a U.K. prison. In third: “One”, a futuristic piece about interplanetary travel.

Not all entries were fully AI-made. While every film had to include AI-generated video, many mixed it with live-action footage, real-world audio, and traditional editing techniques. Judges focused not just on creativity, but how well AI was used to tell a story.

The short films will also screen in Los Angeles and Paris next week, as part of the festival’s growing international reach.”
