China has cautioned Manila, the capital of the Philippines, against relying on foreign support in the South China Sea dispute, following critical remarks from the EU.
The Chinese embassy in the Philippines has advised Manila, the country’s capital, not to rely on external powers to resolve its maritime dispute with Beijing in the South China Sea. The warning came after EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas visited Manila and expressed concern over China’s actions in the contested waters. In response, a Chinese embassy spokesperson said the EU has no right to interfere and should stop “provoking trouble,” emphasizing that the South China Sea issue is solely between China and Southeast Asian nations involved.
