South Korea is set for a snap presidential election on Tuesday, where voters will choose a new leader for the next five years. The race has been dominated by Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung, who currently leads with 49.2% support, ahead of ruling People Power Party’s Kim Moon-soo at 36.8%. The election was called after President Yoon Suk Yeol was removed from office following an attempt to invoke martial law.
Early voting and overseas ballots have already been cast. The final results are expected late Tuesday or early Wednesday, with the winner taking on the task of stabilizing the nation after political upheaval.
