Six people have died with one other injured, after a fire broke out in a perfume warehouse in the Dilovasi district of Türkiye on Saturday.
Governor Ilhami Aktas of the Kocaeli province who spoke to Anadolu said that the fire has been put out as at Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters attended the scene of the incident after receiving a call about the warehouse being on fire, managing to contain and eventually put out the blaze.
He said efforts were ongoing to cool the warehouse which housed perfumes after extinguishing the fire.
Aktas in his statement also condoled with the families of the victims who lost their lives in the incident.
Footage obtained by Anadolu Agency showed a huge plume of smoke billowing out of the charred remains of the building.
A small crowd could also be seen milling around the area which appeared to be a residential street with houses nearby.
Police as well as other emergency services were also seen at the scene though it is unclear whether nearby houses where evacuated.
Identities of the victims who died in the fire is yet to be released as it is not yet known if they worked at the warehouse or lived in the vicinity.
Relevant authorities have begun an investigation into the cause of the fire which is unknown at this point.
