Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Germany’s direct involvement in the war is already "evident," responding to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s remarks supporting long-range strikes by Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Germany’s deepening military cooperation with Ukraine, including plans to jointly develop long-range missiles and previous tank deliveries, proves that Berlin is already a party to the conflict.
Speaking to a Russian state TV reporter, Lavrov responded to comments by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who earlier in the day met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin. Merz said Germany would not impose range limits on missiles it co-develops with Ukraine.
Lavrov warned that such decisions were “building tension” and could further escalate the conflict. “I hope responsible politicians in Germany will make the right conclusion and stop the madness,” he said.
