Poland’s Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski, representing the ruling Civic Coalition (KO), is slightly ahead of nationalist candidate Karol Nawrocki in the run-up to Sunday’s presidential runoff, according to a new Opinia24 poll for TVN.
The survey shows Trzaskowski with 47% support, Nawrocki close behind at 46%, and 5% of voters undecided. Another 2% refused to answer.
Tens of thousands marched in Warsaw on Sunday to back both candidates in what is shaping up to be a nail-biting contest, seen as critical for the country’s democratic reforms.
In the first round, Trzaskowski led Nawrocki by a narrow margin—31.4% to 29.5%—much closer than many earlier polls predicted.
Recent polls reflect the tight race:
Opinia24 (May 26): Trzaskowski 47.0%, Nawrocki 46.0%
Pollster (May 26): Trzaskowski 45.7%, Nawrocki 43.6%
IBRiS (May 26): Trzaskowski 45.7%, Nawrocki 44.9%
Ipsos (May 23): Both tied at 47.0%
Opinia24 (May 22): Trzaskowski 45.0%, Nawrocki 47.0%
The election outcome remains uncertain as both candidates rally strong support ahead of the decisive vote.
