The U.S. State Department has handed over international disaster response duties to its refugee-focused bureau, sidelining USAID’s seasoned crisis teams.
The Israeli military on Wednesday urged residents in the Jabalia refugee camp and 13 neighborhoods in northern Gaza to evacuate “immediately,” ahead of what it described as planned military operations in the area.
Spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared the warning on X, stating that the notice was issued as a precaution before airstrikes targeting locations believed to be launching sites for rocket fire.
The areas named include Jabalia, Ghaben, al-Shaimaa, Fadous, al-Manshiya, Sheikh Zayed, al-Salatin, al-Karama, Beit Lahia Project, al-Zuhour, Tal al-Zaatar, al-Nour, Ibad al-Rahman, and al-Nahda. Civilians were advised to move south “for their safety,” according to the army.
