China has threatened legal action against entities that support U.S. restrictions on Chinese semiconductors, escalating tensions after Washington warned companies against using Huawei’s advanced AI chips.
China has warned it may pursue legal action against individuals or organizations that assist in enforcing U.S. measures discouraging the use of Chinese advanced semiconductors.
The warning follows new U.S. guidance stating that companies using Huawei's Ascend AI chips—produced by Shenzhen-based HWT.UL—could be in breach of export controls.
China’s commerce ministry criticized the U.S. rules as “discriminatory and restrictive,” saying those involved could face “corresponding legal liabilities.” A ministry spokesperson called on the U.S. to respect international trade norms and other nations’ rights to scientific and technological development.
