Interim President Ilie Bolojan has signed into law new legislation allowing Romanian forces to shoot down drones that illegally enter the country’s airspace. He also approved a separate law regulating military missions and operations conducted on Romanian territory during peacetime.
According to the Presidential Administration, Bolojan signed the two decrees on Monday: one concerning the control of national airspace and the other on the rules for military operations in peacetime.
In March, Romania's Constitutional Court (CCR) rejected challenges from the AUR, POT, and SOS Romania parties, which opposed both laws. These laws had been passed by Parliament in February and later contested at the CCR.
On February 26, the Senate gave final approval to the legislation on drone interception, national airspace control, and the framework for conducting military missions during peacetime.
