FBI respond to ‘targeted terror attack’ at Colorado mall
An attack at Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall has left multiple victims, with authorities treating the incident as a targeted act of terror.
The FBI has identified 25-year-old Guy Edward Bartkus as the suspect behind Saturday's bombing near a fertility clinic in Palm Springs, California.
According to Akil Davis, assistant director of the FBI's Los Angeles office, Bartkus had "nihilistic ideations" and deliberately targeted the IVF facility in what officials are calling an act of terrorism.
The explosion occurred around 11 a.m. local time outside the American Reproductive Center. One person was killed and at least four others were injured. Fortunately, none of the embryos stored inside the clinic were damaged.
Investigators believe Bartkus intended to live-stream the attack and died in the blast. The FBI is continuing to investigate the incident as a deliberate and targeted act.
