Qatar signed a landmark agreement with U.S. aerospace giant Boeing on Wednesday to acquire 160 aircraft for Qatar Airways, a deal valued at $200 billion. The signing took place in Doha during the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump.
Qatar finalized a major agreement on Wednesday to purchase 160 aircraft from U.S. aerospace giant Boeing for Qatar Airways, coinciding with U.S. President Donald Trump’s visit to the Gulf nation.
The deal, valued at over $200 billion, was signed during a formal ceremony in Doha attended by Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. The announcement came during Trump’s second stop on a regional tour of Gulf states, following a series of high-profile agreements signed in Saudi Arabia the day before.
Speaking at the event, Trump quoted Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg as saying the agreement marked “the largest order of jets in Boeing’s history.” He added: “It’s over $200 billion - 160 jets - that’s fantastic. So that’s a record, Kelly. Congratulations to Boeing. Get those planes out there.”
The order is expected to significantly expand and modernize Qatar Airways’ fleet, further enhancing the country’s aviation industry and deepening U.S.-Qatar economic ties.
