China has voiced concern over escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following a reported military operation by India, calling for restraint and a commitment to regional peace.
Speaking at a press briefing, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated, “China finds India’s military operation early this morning regrettable. We are concerned about the ongoing situation.”
Highlighting the importance of stability in the region, the spokesperson emphasized that India and Pakistan are not only neighbors to each other but also to China. “India and Pakistan are and will always be each other’s neighbors. They’re both China’s neighbors as well,” the spokesperson noted.
While reiterating China’s opposition to all forms of terrorism, the ministry urged both sides to exercise caution. “We urge both sides to act in the larger interest of peace and stability, remain calm, exercise restraint and refrain from taking actions that may further complicate the situation,” the spokesperson added.
China’s remarks come amid growing international concern about renewed tensions between the two neighbors. The call for de-escalation echoes previous appeals from global powers to prioritize diplomatic engagement and regional stability
