The Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday advanced President Donald Trump’s picks of private astronaut-entrepreneur Jared Isaacman to run NASA and aide Olivia Trusty to fill an FCC seat, moves that would hand Republicans a 3-2 majority on the telecom regulator.

The Senate Commerce Committee on Wednesday cleared President Donald Trump’s nominees to lead NASA and fill an open seat on the Federal Communications Commission. Entrepreneur Jared Isaacman—Shift4 Payments CEO and a two-time private astronaut with SpaceX—was advanced for the NASA post, while Senate aide Olivia Trusty moved forward for the FCC slot, a confirmation that would give Republicans a 3-2 edge on the five-member panel.
