Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will travel to Moscow later this week to brief Russian officials on the recent nuclear negotiations with the United States held in Oman, according to the Iranian Foreign Ministry.
“Dr Araghchi will travel to Moscow at the end of the week,” said ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, noting that the trip was “pre-planned” and would serve as “an opportunity to discuss the latest developments related to the Muscat talks.”
The visit comes amid cautious optimism following indirect discussions between Iranian and U.S. delegations aimed at finding a diplomatic path forward for Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Russian officials have previously played a mediating role in past rounds of nuclear diplomacy involving Iran, including the now-defunct 2015 nuclear deal.
