U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced the immediate revocation of existing visas for South Sudanese passport holders, along with the suspension of new visa issuances.
Rubio attributed the decision to the South Sudanese transitional government's repeated failure to swiftly accept repatriated citizens. He criticized officials in Juba for "taking advantage" of the United States, although he emphasized Washington's willingness to reconsider if South Sudan shows full cooperation.
