A fire at a Petronas gas pipeline near Kuala Lumpur has injured at least 112 people and affected 49 homes, authorities confirmed.
A fire erupted at a gas pipeline near Putra Heights, Puchong, Selangor, on Tuesday, injuring at least 112 people, Malaysia’s state energy firm Petronas reported.
Petronas stated that the affected pipeline has been isolated, and all relevant stakeholders have been informed. The company is working closely with authorities to ensure the safety of the community, protect the environment, and maintain the nation’s gas supply. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
According to the state news agency Bernama, 49 injured individuals received treatment at a temple in Subang Jaya, while 63 others were taken to hospitals for burns, breathing difficulties, and other injuries.
Additionally, 49 homes were impacted by the fire.
In a separate statement, Gas Malaysia Distribution clarified that the incident did not involve its gas facilities.
