Iran has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council, accusing U.S. President Donald Trump of making "reckless and belligerent" remarks that violate international law and the U.N. Charter.
The complaint follows Trump’s Sunday threat to bomb Iran and impose secondary tariffs if Tehran fails to reach a nuclear agreement with Washington.
In a letter obtained by Reuters, Iran’s U.N. Ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani warned of swift retaliation if the U.S. or its ally Israel takes aggressive actions against Iran’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national interests.
The escalating rhetoric underscores mounting tensions as both countries continue to clash over Iran's nuclear program and broader regional security issues.
