Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum met with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to discuss migration and security challenges.
During a press conference, Sheinbaum said the meeting would focus on bilateral cooperation in both areas.
Noem’s visit—her first to the region—comes as the Trump administration places increasing emphasis on Latin America in its efforts to ramp up deportations and deter northbound migration.

Noem’s stop in Mexico concluded her Latin American tour, which also included visits to El Salvador—where she inspected a maximum-security prison holding over 200 migrants deported from the U.S.—and Colombia, where she held talks with President Gustavo Petro.
