At least two people have died and 17 others, including three police officers, were injured in Nepal after protesters and police clashed. The demonstrators were demanding the restoration of the constitutional monarchy.
The violence broke out east of the capital, Kathmandu, during a rally organized by groups loyal to former King Gyanendra Shah.
According to officials, protesters set fire to a private house and a vehicle. Authorities said they had to intervene to stop thousands of demonstrators from entering a restricted area where protests are banned. A curfew was later imposed to prevent further escalation.
The dead included a protester and a journalist covering the rally.
