Britain's King Charles was briefly hospitalized due to temporary side effects from cancer treatment and has cancelled Friday’s engagements on medical advice.
Britain’s King Charles spent a brief period in hospital after experiencing temporary side effects during cancer treatment, Buckingham Palace said.
The 76-year-old monarch has since returned to Clarence House and, following medical advice, has cancelled his engagements scheduled for Friday, the palace confirmed in a statement.
Charles had been due to receive credentials from the ambassadors of three countries on Thursday and was set to carry out four public engagements in Birmingham on Friday.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said the King hopes the events can be rescheduled and extends his sincere apologies to all those involved in organizing the visit.
The palace first revealed the King’s cancer diagnosis in February 2024.
No details were provided about the specific side effects he experienced, but a royal source said his recovery continues to progress positively and that the side effects are temporary and not uncommon in medical treatments.
