Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has set a national election for May 3, as Labor faces a tight race against the opposition.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has called a national election for May 3, kicking off a five-week campaign.
Albanese met with Governor-General Sam Mostyn to seek formal approval to hold the federal election.

The campaign is expected to focus heavily on cost-of-living issues, with Labor fighting to avoid becoming the first one-term government to lose an election in nearly a century.
