Arrangements are currently underway for Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit India, according to Russia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted an invitation from India's head of government, and preparations are underway for his visit to the Republic of India," Lavrov announced according to tass.com report
Lavrov also noted that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi made his first foreign visit to Russia after his re-election last year. 'Now it’s our turn,' he added.
Russian and Indian leaders have an agreement to hold meetings once a year. The previous summit was held in Moscow in July 2024.
Putin’s visit is expected to advance a new economic chapter between Russia and India, focusing on the liberalization of bilateral trade and the potential establishment of an EAEU-India Free Trade Area.
The discussions will also aim to optimize customs procedures to boost cargo turnover, leveraging new trade routes such as the North-South International Transport Corridor, the Northern Sea Route, and the Chennai-Vladivostok Sea Line.
