Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is going to visit Russia in May, his special assistant on international affairs Celso Amorim said.
"President Lula da Silva will visit Russia in May for a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin," Amorim told the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S. Paulo.
In late January, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss global and bilateral agenda issues.
President Lula thanked Russia for the invitation to the May 9 celebration in Moscow marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II, stating his intention to attend.
The Russian leader expressed support for Brazil's BRICS presidency and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing initiatives that promote trade, investment, and cooperation among member states. He also suggested resuming the High-Level Bilateral Commission between the two countries.
