At least five people were killed and around 27 injured when a concrete beam from an under-construction expressway bridge collapsed early Saturday in Thailand, local media reported.
The incident occurred on Rama 2 Road, a key highway linking Bangkok to the south. The beam, about 200 meters from an expressway entrance, fell onto an existing structure, causing multiple casualties, according to the Bangkok Post.
Over 20 workers were at the site when the accident happened. As of 7 a.m. (0000 GMT), five deaths were confirmed, and at least 27 were injured. Authorities continue searching for missing individuals.
A worker at the scene reported hearing loud noises as concrete was being poured to connect columns before the collapse. The cause is under investigation.
