Chinese President Xi Jinping informed British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Monday that there is significant potential for cooperation between their two nations, according to the official Xinhua News Agency.
Xi and Starmer held discussions in Rio de Janeiro on the margins of the Group of 20 summit, Xinhua reported.
This marks the first meeting between a British prime minister and Xi since 2018.
During his time in Rio de Janeiro, Xi is expected to engage with several world leaders amid heightened challenges to achieving consensus within the G20, driven by conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as the return of a Trump-led United States.
