ATO's Secretary-General Mark Rutte said on Thursday (March 6) he was "cautiously optimistic" that talks between Ukraine and the United States could lead to a positive result.
Rutte said U.S. President Donald Trump has made both the United States' and his personal commitment to NATO clear. "The transatlantic partnership remains the bedrock of our alliance", he added during a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
Duda said he wanted all NATO countries should discuss and decide at the upcoming summit in The Hague on raising their defence spending to at least 3% of GDP immediately, saying it was necessary to deter Russia or other countries who might be tempted to attack members of the alliance.
