Polish President Andrzej Duda called for a stronger U.S. presence in Poland and Central Europe during a meeting with Donald Trump in Washington. Trump, however, assured Duda of U.S. support, saying Poland is a credible ally.

Polish President Andrzej Duda met with Donald Trump in Washington on Saturday, urging an increased U.S. presence in Poland and Central Europe. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Duda said Trump responded positively but reassured him there was no need for concern over security.

Duda did not comment on whether he discussed Trump’s recent remarks on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Trump had called Zelensky a “dictator” and suggested Ukraine should quickly negotiate peace with Russia or risk further instability. The shift in U.S. tone has raised concerns in Europe over Kyiv’s future support.

According to the White House, Trump reaffirmed the strong alliance between the U.S. and Poland, praising Warsaw’s commitment to increasing defense spending.
