Two people lost their lives late Saturday when a small aircraft crashed shortly after departing from an airport east of Atlanta, Georgia, according to a local news report.
The single-engine plane went down near Covington Municipal Airport around 11:40 p.m. local time (04:40 GMT), as reported by Atlanta News First.
Authorities located the wreckage in a wooded area just north of the runway in Newton County. Police confirmed that both occupants were found at the crash site and pronounced dead.
