Tens of thousands of demonstrators gathered in Berlin to protest the rising popularity of the far-right AfD party, just days ahead of Germany’s general election
Tens of thousands of people have taken to the streets of Berlin to protest the rising support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.
The demonstrations come just a week before Germany's general election, with protesters calling for "a decisive fight against right-wing extremism" and denouncing the AfD, which is expected to become the second-largest party in next Sunday’s vote.
The anti-immigration party has gained momentum in recent months, with polls projecting a record-breaking result of approximately 20% of the vote.
Authorities estimate that around 30,000 demonstrators participated in the rally.
