Following medical evaluations, doctors diagnosed a respiratory tract infection and began administering medication. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni reported that Pope Francis is “calm and in good spirits” and even spent some time reading newspapers during his hospital stay.
As he recovers, Pope Francis is expected to miss several upcoming public events.
