Saleh Goudjil, Speaker of the Council of the Nation, stated that Paris must take full responsibility for addressing the aftermath of nuclear explosions conducted in the Algerian desert during the colonial era, Algerian radio reports.
Goudjil emphasized Algeria’s stance on the issue, stressing that the effects of these tests continue to impact the local population, particularly those living in the affected regions.
"Algeria's position is to demand that France fully assume responsibility for eliminating the consequences of the nuclear explosions carried out by French colonialists in the Algerian desert during the colonial period," Goudjil said.
"The Algerian people, especially residents of the regions where these explosions were carried out, continue to suffer from their harmful consequences to this day," he added.
