The death toll from an overnight Russian attack on the Kyiv region rose to four, including three children, Kyiv regional authorities said on Sunday. A mother and her two 3-year-old children were killed when a Russian drone strike hit a private home, the emergency service said.
Russia’s ruling United Russia party is leading with 57.5% of the vote as partial official results from the parliamentary election were released on Sunday.
The Communist Party, LDPR, New People and Just Russia were trailing but were also on course to win seats in the State Duma, according to the initial results.

In a post on X, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said a Russian drone strike on a monastery in the Kherson region killed a clergy member and injured four others on Saturday.
He also said Russia launched more than 2,000 attack drones, 1,700 guided aerial bombs and 19 missiles against Ukraine this week, and urged Kyiv’s partners to impose fresh sanctions on Moscow.
Ukraine’s military struck an oil refinery in Russia’s Moscow region overnight, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy said the strike hit “one of Russia’s key oil industry facilities” as well as a logistics facility, adding that the sites help generate revenue supporting Russia’s war effort.

Tkachenko said the region endured more than a day of hostile attacks, with 31 sites damaged in five districts.
The southwestern Fastiv district sustained the most damage, with 24 sites hit, including homes, industrial and utility buildings, the grounds of an agricultural enterprise and vehicles, he added.
Russia has been attacking the capital Kyiv and the surrounding Kyiv region with drones continually in recent weeks.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Russia had downed more than 1,600 Ukrainian drones since Saturday, including 450 headed towards Moscow.
In the wider Moscow region, 400 people, including 70 children, were evacuated from a 21-storey apartment building in Ramenskoye, where several homes were also damaged. Sobyanin said the attack was aimed at disrupting Russia’s parliamentary elections, which enter their final day on Sunday.

Some Western politicians are seeking conflict between NATO and Russia after a “failed” strategy to defeat Moscow in its war with Ukraine, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said on Saturday.
Longtime Slovak leader Fico, who has kept up warm relations with Russia and refuses military aid for Ukraine, said this week that Europe was closer than ever to a large-scale war erupting from the Ukraine war.

In his video message, Fico said, “We face a mortal danger” while watching the West “pour fuel on the fire” with its support for Ukraine, which he said had been to no avail.
“The failure of the strategy to destroy Russia through the war in Ukraine has led some Western politicians to believe that if the goal cannot be achieved through the Ukrainian army and full support for it, then every effort must be made to trigger a conflict between NATO and Russia,” Fico said in the video posted on social media.
He said the war in Ukraine was not Slovakia's nor NATO's war but said, “Certain war hawks within NATO are trying, at any cost, to turn this war into a conflict between Russia and NATO.”
