Drone attacks damaged a warehouse near Russia’s St. Petersburg and struck a cargo ship near Novorossiysk, injuring three crew members, according to Russian and Turkish authorities.
A warehouse facility near Russia’s second-largest city, St. Petersburg, was damaged in a drone attack, Leningrad region Governor Alexander Drozdenko said on Telegram.
“Damage was recorded in a warehouse area near the village of Krasny Bor,” Drozdenko said, adding that Russian air defences intercepted 17 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) after a security alert was declared.
The governor said one person was injured in the incident and confirmed that the threat had been contained.
The attack comes amid a series of strikes targeting logistics infrastructure in Russia. Warehouses belonging to Russian online retailer Wildberries have reportedly been hit multiple times since mid-July.
The Ukrainian government has not commented on the latest incident.
Separately, three crew members were seriously injured after a roll-on/roll-off cargo ship was hit in a drone attack near Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, Türkiye’s maritime authority said.
The vessel, named the Nadezhda, was sailing from Novorossiysk to Türkiye’s Samsun port on Monday (3 August) when it was struck about 20 nautical miles off the Russian coast.
All 22 crew members were evacuated to Russia, including three who suffered serious injuries. A fire continued to burn in the bow of the vessel following the attack.
Authorities have not identified who was responsible for the strike.
