Thousands of Argentina supporters gathered around the Obelisk in central Buenos Aires on Sunday to mark the national team's run to the World Cup final, despite its defeat to Spain.
Aerial footage showed large crowds filling the surrounding streets as fans waved flags, sang, danced, and set off flares and fireworks. Many supporters said they remained proud of the team's performance and praised the players for competing until the final whistle.
The gathering later turned tense when clashes broke out near the monument. Police used tear gas to disperse parts of the crowd, while at least 15 people were arrested, according to local media. It was not immediately clear what triggered the disturbances.
