Ukrainian drone strikes reportedly hit an oil depot in Ust-Labinsk and a military site near St. Petersburg, causing a fire but no casualties, according to local Russian authorities.

In the Leningrad region, officials said more than 140 drones were intercepted. They described the assault as unprecedented, with minor damage reported and evacuations taking place near a military facility.

Zelenskyy described the strikes as a response to Russian attacks. He said the targets included key infrastructure and naval assets in Kronstadt, adding that some drones had travelled around 1,000 kilometres.

He again called on Russia to end the war and accused President Vladimir Putin of seeking to prolong the conflict.

Strikes come during St. Petersburg forum

The developments came as St. Petersburg hosted its annual economic forum, a major event used by Moscow to project economic resilience.

They also followed Putin’s rejection of Zelenskyy’s proposal for direct talks. The Russian leader has said any ceasefire would allow Ukraine to regroup.

Ukraine has increased long-range drone attacks inside Russia, including against oil and military infrastructure. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted 376 Ukrainian drones, while officials in the Leningrad region reported 140 drones downed there.

Russia claims capture of Kharkiv settlement

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defence Ministry said its forces had captured the settlement of Shevchenko in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region.

The battlefield claims from both sides could not be independently verified.
