Outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden attended a commander-in-chief farewell ceremony in Virginia on Thursday. Speaking to the troops gathered at the event, Biden described serving as their commander-in-chief as "the greatest honour" of his life.
During the ceremony, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin presented both Biden and First Lady Jill Biden with Distinguished Public Service Medals, the highest award given by the Department of Defense.
Biden will hand over power to Republican Donald Trump at noon on Monday. Trump will return to the White House after defeating his rival, current Vice President Kamala Harris, in the November 2024 elections.
