Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello said on Tuesday that authorities seized 6,850 kilograms of drugs in the southern state of Bolívar as part of an anti-narcotics operation earlier this month.
Cabello said the seizure involved 238 packages containing 14,280 individual wrappings, 14,199 of marijuana and 81 of cocaine, with a total weight of 6,850 kilograms.
The operation, which took place on 5 January, also led to the confiscation of two boats, including one that had capsized, and was carried out as part of what he described as “Operation Soledad.”
At a press conference, Cabello said that as of 13 January, authorities had seized a total of 7,148 kilograms of drugs nationwide so far in 2026.
He also rejected allegations of official involvement in drug trafficking, dismissing the so-called Cartel de los Soles, a term used in U.S. indictments to describe alleged narcotics networks within Venezuela, as a 'narrative' without basis.
