Thousands take to NYC streets for SantaCon celebration

New York City’s streets were filled with holiday cheer over the weekend as thousands of people took part in the annual SantaCon celebration transforming the city into a sea of white and red.

Thousands of participants, dressed in Santa Claus costumes, gathered across the city, from Midtown Manhattan to downtown neighbourhoods.

Streets, parks, and public spaces were crowded with costumed revelers who posed for photos, sang holiday songs, and moved through the city in large groups.

The event, held each year in early December, began as a small gathering but has grown into one of New York’s most recognisable seasonal traditions.

Organisers say SantaCon celebrates holiday spirit while bringing people together during the winter season.
